Uniondale, Long Island, New York, June 17, 2008 – Bradley L. Gerstman will be the featured speaker at a fundraiser for Autism Speaks, the nation’s largest autism advocacy organization, on Monday evening, June 23, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at the Havana Cigar Club in the Carlton Restaurant, Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, New York. This special event will include an auction of sports memorabilia and other unique items.

“Society can no longer turn a blind eye to a problem that affects so many of our children,” said Gerstman. “Autism Speaks is in the forefront of aggressively seeking effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for this widespread and devastating disorder and I am committed to supporting these efforts.”

Founded in 2005, Autism Speaks funds global research into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure for autism, and advocates for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. Autism, which affects a person’s ability to communicate and relate to others, impacts one in every 150 children.

Richard Mallow, Long Island Walk Director for Autism Speaks, remarked, “Brad’s passionate dedication to children with autism and their families has helped tremendously in our efforts to raise awareness and get closer to finding a cure. His energy, creativity and perseverance have been invaluable.”

Professionally, Gerstman, who lives in Roslyn, New York, has served as both a defense attorney and a prosecutor with a successful track record as an advocate on a wide range of cases including those involving corporate fraud and corruption, and violent crimes and narcotics.

Active in politics and the community, Gerstman is on the Board of Directors of the Nassau Health Care Corporation and the Long Island Medical Foundation, where he serves as vice president. In addition, he is co-founder and Board member of the Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation, a family foundation that provides summer camp experiences for children with physical disabilities.
