Uniondale, Long Island, New York, September 25, 2008 – Bradley L. Gerstman, was named Co-Chair of the Nassau Autism Coalition by Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi on September 8, 2008. The Nassau Autism Coalition was formed to create a platform for the top issues faced by Long Island families affected by autism, and to effect solutions working in concert with both the State and Federal government. Gerstman’s co chair will be autism activist Evelyn Ain, publisher of Spectrum Magazine, a longtime supporter of autistic children and their families.
Gerstman, is a member of the firm’s Corporate & Securities Department and serves as Chair of the Education Law practice. In that capacity, Gerstman brings a unique blend of legal and business experience to his clients’ needs, as well as extensive experience in the education community.
In addition to his appointment to the Nassau Autism Coalition, Gerstman is a member of the Education Law Association and the Nassau County Bar Association’s Education Law Committee, and is a strong advocate for children with special needs. He is a co-founder and board member of the Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation, a family foundation that provides summer camp experiences to children with physical disabilities. Gerstman is also the Long Island Advocacy Chair for Autism Speaks, the nation’s largest autism advocacy organization. He serves on the executive committee for Autism Speaks’ Long Island Walk, one of the group’s most important fundraisers, and chaired Hofstra University Basketball Autism Speaks Awareness Day.
In addition, Gerstman is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Nassau Health Care Corporation and is chairman of the facilities committee where he is spearheading a $400 million makeover of the hospital, clinics, and senior living facility. He is also Vice President and Board Member of the Long Island Medical Foundation.
