One in 68 children is autistic: Brad Gerstman, Esq. responds

Autism since 2000The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the national public health institute of the United States, concludes that the prevalence of autism is rising dramatically.

“When are we going to get serious about finding the cause and real pharmaceutical treatments to curb this epidemic?” Lawyer, political consultant and autism advocate, Brad Gerstman, questions with frustration.

Scientists don’t know the exact causes of autism but research suggests that both genes and environment play important roles. There are no conclusive answers other than the rates keep on rising, and society is concerned. Autism now effects 1 in every 68 children, a whopping 30 percent increase since 2012. Gerstman thinks about our country’s children and is concerned for their future, “How will we care for them, house them, treat them, and employ them, as they reach adult age?”
